What People Say About Us

The training from ninemedia was invaluable. It’s rare to get such candid insight from working journalists on what they do (and definitely don’t!) want from a relationship with a PR exec. I highly recommend Becky and Karen to any media relations team – it will improve your pitches and approach immediately..”

As a university with a growing reputation for enterprise and research that addresses real world challenges, London South Bank University is often called upon to provide experts who can speak to the press. We commissioned Nine Media because of their impressive focus on specifically training academics to improve the quality of their print, radio and TV interviews. The depth of their knowledge and experience – combined with a practical approach to interview technique – ensured that those who took part in the training left feeling confident, informed and enthused about working with the media.”

The social media course was a useful introduction for the reluctant tweeters to learn the basics. But the bright and sparky tutors also helped the regular tweeters find new ways to cast programmes and get in touch with contributors. We all learnt about some of the perils. It was a lively course and we even had a Twitter party – only without the cocktails!”

Karen and Becky are very charismatic and welcoming people. They both have very enviable life experiences which have resulted in them being able to give a fantastic insight into the way the media works, from all angles. Katharina Schaden, Rosetta Stone

I really enjoyed attending Pitch Perfect. It was interesting to learn not only how to pitch to journalists, but also to gain some insider knowledge of how PR professionals are perceived by journalists, in particular ones with as much experience as Becky and Karen. The short class was precise and to the point, cramming in useful tips and ideas but in a very personable manner – the acted telephone conversations taught me what to do and not to do in a phone call – something I will be taking to the office for future guidance!”

Harriet Arbuthnot, Sophie Conran

The ‘Pitch Perfect’ course was very insightful and it was great to hear a journalist’s perspective on what they like to receive when receiving a pitch from PRs. Karen and Becky were great and gave us practical examples of good and bad pitches, for both pitching via email and over the phone. I would definitely recommend this course to other PRs, whether they are new to PR or to refresh their media skills, and I am very much looking forward to attending the Star Power course.”

Hannah Slater, Salix Consulting

The ‘Pitch Perfect’ course by Nine Media Training was incredibly useful – learning what NOT to do is as important as learning what the right thing to do is in PR. It’s great to hear Karen and Becky be so honest about what they wanted as journalists from PRs on a day to day basis. Really professional yet personable course and would definitely recommend it to other PR professionals and agencies / companies.”

Charlotte Tobin, PR Manager, CAN Associates

Karen delivered an ‘introduction to media’ training module to three of our five person board. Involvement with television, radio or newspaper coverage was a daunting prospect as I had no previous exposure in the ways of the media. This was further compounded by my personal lack of enthusiasm for the media sector, and ‘red top’ journalism, in particular.

Karen was fantastically patient and incredibly disarming in her approach to the training she delivered. Coupled with her ‘got the scars’ experience and her genius with the pen, I found myself gaining a far more sympathetic understanding of journalistic skills and the pressure placed on those working in the media. I am now much less scared of the unknown. I am confident that I am equipped to respond to the media and accurately convey my views or message than ever I was before meeting Karen.”

Richard Mossman, Finance Director, Certeco

Becky Howard is a fantastic communicator with perfect presentation skills.  She has her finger on the pulse of the media, and is a much-valued contributor to BBC London 94.9.”
